What is EWFA Accreditation?

EWFA Accreditation is a knowledge-based professional accreditation for individuals working in the window film industry.

Candidates prepare using dedicated educational materials and complete an online examination covering the relevant technical knowledge, principles and industry practices.

Successful candidates receive accreditation through the EWFA/IWFA accreditation system.

The programme has been designed to:

• support professional development within the European window film industry;
• encourage a high level of technical knowledge;
• promote good industry practices;

Who can become accredited?

The Advanced Solar Control Accreditation is available now.

It covers key principles related to solar control window films, glazing and film performance, providing window film professionals with an opportunity to demonstrate advanced technical knowledge in this field.

Candidates can prepare for the examination using the EWFA Advanced Solar Control Education Guide, developed as an educational resource for window film industry professionals.

Additional accreditation examinations will be made available through EWFA as the programme develops.

How does it work?

Becoming EWFA accredited is straightforward.

1. Choose your accreditation

Select the accreditation examination you would like to take and review the corresponding education materials.

2. Submit your accreditation request to EWFA

Provide the information required to register the candidate:

• candidate’s full name;
• company name;
• email address to be used for the examination; and
• billing information.

3. Pay the examination fee

EWFA will provide the necessary payment information and process your registration.

4. Receive access to the examination platform

Once registration has been completed, the candidate will receive access to the online accreditation system and instructions for taking the examination.

5. Prepare and take the examination

Candidates can study the relevant EWFA/IWFA educational materials before completing the examination online.

6. Become accredited

Candidates who successfully pass the examination receive the corresponding professional accreditation.

Accreditation Fees

The programme is available to both EWFA members and non-members.

EWFA / IWFA Members: USD 50 per examination

Non-members: USD 100 per examination

Accreditation is therefore also one of the benefits available to professionals working within the EWFA/IWFA membership network.

Do I need to be an EWFA member to take an accreditation examination?

No. Accreditation examinations are available to both members and non-members. However, members benefit from a reduced examination fee.

Is accreditation awarded to the company or the individual?

Accreditation is awarded to the individual who takes and successfully passes the examination.

Do I need to attend a training course?

Candidates can prepare using the educational materials made available for the relevant accreditation. Any specific preparation requirements will be indicated for each examination.

Can I take the examination online?

Yes. Accreditation examinations are completed online through the accreditation testing platform.

In which language is the examination available?

Please contact EWFA for information about the languages currently available for each accreditation examination.

What happens after I pass?

Once you successfully complete the examination, your accreditation is recorded through the EWFA/IWFA accreditation system. Where applicable, accreditation references can also be associated with the relevant company or professional listing.

Is accreditation the same as an installer licence or legal certification?

No. EWFA accreditation demonstrates knowledge of the subjects covered by the relevant examination. It does not replace any licence, qualification, certification or other requirement that may be required under national or local legislation.

Professionals remain responsible for ensuring that their activities and installations comply with all applicable legal, technical and regulatory requirements in the country where they operate.
