WASHINGTON, Feb. 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The International Window Film Association (IWFA), a nonprofit trade group comprised of window film dealers, distributors, and manufacturers and the European Window Film Association (EWFA) have mutually agreed to combine their efforts in expanding education and awareness about window film products and the many benefits from their uses on a global basis. The agreement strengthens the resulting organization's presence across Europe and expands its position as the industry's largest nonprofit window film advocacy group.

The agreement between the IWFA and EWFA will accelerate consumer education on the benefits of window film globally. Professionally installed window film provides a wide range of benefits, from health to sustainability. Typical single pane windows block less than 25 percent of harmful UV radiation. In comparison, window film can block up to 99% of UV rays, helping to protect against premature aging, wrinkles and even skin cancer.

Under the new structure, the EWFA will become the European chapter of the IWFA with a regional office provided in Brussels. This will bring economies of scale to infrastructure costs, freeing up more resources for actionable projects while still providing local oversight and support for association and membership activities in Europe. Additionally, the IWFA has developed a consumer information program to be expanded for use in Europe. Future technical research projects will also be aligned for both the North American and European markets.

"The IWFA has remained dedicated to educating the industry about the benefits of window film, whether for commercial, residential or automotive purposes for 25 years," said Jack Mundy, President of the IWFA. "Our strategic partnership with the EWFA will reduce infrastructure costs, increase membership capabilities, eliminate business redundancies and ultimately bring more opportunity to the industry in Europe."

The process of aligning the two organizations' campaigns will begin immediately. "Joining the IWFA will prove to be a great organizational advantage," explained David Cox, outgoing President of the EWFA. "Not only will the EWFA continue to operate independently in Europe as a chapter of the IWFA, it will also gain new resources for our members' uses from the IWFA, allowing more funds to be dedicated to local programs."

"Our member manufacturers are pleased to see greater global alignment from these two industry organizations," continued Lisa Winkler, Chairman of the IWFA Manufacturers Committee. "Manufacturers, distributors, the industry and our customers in Europe will see significant benefits from this reorganization effort."
